The Powerglide race transmissions are available in several configurations depending on the vehicle
and engine combination. If you are bracket racing on Saturday nights or if you are following a National
event schedule or the high dollar bracket races, B&M has the transmission combination for your vehicle.
The standard length models are typically for door car & roadster applications while the shorty models
are mainly for rear engine dragsters. When choosing a unit it is highly recommended you include E9310
gears and a high strength carrier for cars running quicker than 11.00's especially if the vehicle weight is
over 2600 lbs. The E9310 gears are available in 1.76 helical design or 1.80 straight cut design. The 1.80
ratio gears are suggested for heavy (3200 lbs) vehicles to improve the launch characteristics and reaction
times as well as for high horsepower applications (cars running 8:50's and quicker). The high strength
carrier features a 4340 output shaft for added strength and durability for those hard transbrake launches
round after round. The Dedenbear case option provides an all new case as well as it incorporates the
SFI requirements for transmission shield and flexplate shield in one unit. No exterior bolt-on shields are
needed when the components are assembled into a Dedenbear Case. Dedenbear case equipped
transmissions also include all new internal linkage components and pistons. Hand assembled by highly
trained technicians along with a fully tested unit will provide the confidence you require for run after
run of consistent performance.
