The Bear Stop can be activated using a pushbutton shifter or electric timer.Use the provided pushbutton shifter switch that attaches behind the shift lever that is "on" (full throttle) in low gear, and "off" (closed throttle) in high gear.Using an electronic timer (throttle stop controller) the controller replaces the shifter switch and the timer turns the throttle stop off and on as the car goes down the track.In either method the throttle stop can be overridden allowing you to "run a guy down" on the top end by manually pushing an override switch. The Bear Stop's electric solenoid opens and closes instantaneously, and draws only 1 amp at wide open throttle.Nothing attaches to your throttle linkage, so the Bear Stop eliminates the dangerous possibilities of a stuck throttle. Dedenbear even installs plugs at the open shaft ends to prevent vacuum leaks.As ran racers, Dedenbear engineers understand that Holley carburettors like to run wide open.Since the Bear Stop uses its own set of secondary butterflies to regulate air/fuel flow, your carburettor operates at full throttle throughout the run. Fuel metering always remains correct, and weather changes can be compensated for predictably. (An optional Primary Butterfly Kit is available with a second set of butterflies and linkage.) Adjusting the Bear Stop is simple. An indexed stop bolt lets you easily make precise and repeatable settings.
